The House of Representatives’ plan to pass the Draft Criminal Code (RUU KUHP) before entering the recess period has received rejection in various regions. In Jakarta, the Alliance of Communities Rejecting the RKUHP took a sympathy action by unfurling banners against at car free days (CFD) area. Even though the existing regulations in the RKUHP still contain many problematic articles. If this rule is passed, Indonesia will return to the colonial era because it curbs human rights and civil society freedoms.

The contents of the RKUHP not only make democracy in Indonesia go backwards, but also interfere with individual life, including the relationship between individuals and their beliefs. Unfortunately, the series of problematic articles contained in the RKUHP were discussed in a non-participatory forum. In fact, if the RKUHP is passed, it will suppress press freedom in Indonesia.
